Playing Alts

There's always a right way and a wrong way to play alternate characters in a roleplay server.
The goal of this guide is to help clear up any confusion that may come from having alts.

As per our rules, every player is permitted 2 characters after being allowlisted, however every character made after your original 2 must be approved by admins via a support ticket. This includes if you shelf or perma a character and wish to make a new one. You're allowed a maximum of 4 active characters at a time, permitting if the two additional slots have been approved.

What is acceptable:

  • Having an alt.
  • Playing a relative of your character.
  • Sharing some aspects of their backstory with another character if they are related in some way.

What is
not acceptable

  • Sharing information between characters.
    •  Once your characters are created, their lines of communication end and direct storylines split off from the other.
  • Immediately being part of the same gang/posse/group as another one of your previous/deceased characters.
  • Being part of the same gang/posse as one of your active/living characters.
  • Transferring money, horses or objects between characters.
  • Playing identical twins or characters that closely resemble one another.
  • Having the same or similar name to the previous/other character, other than surname.
  • Using the same names as aliases between characters.
  • Using an Alt to play a very similar character to a prior one.
  • Using the Alt to push/effect the story of another one of your characters.
  • Using the Alt to get revenge for the other character (Ex: If a someone killed your previous character, you cannot have an alt go to seek vengeance for them).

Every alt, whether related to one of your other characters or not, should always be unique and have their own story line. You should try to make them as different from your previous characters as possible, this includes their manner of dress, hair style, their likes and dislikes, the profession they may be interested in, etc.
They should not be used to replace the other if they have passed on or had to leave the State for whatever reason.
You should not be seeking out your other characters friend groups to intermingle with them, though we understand that after extended periods of time acquaintances may overlap organically.
You should never have one of your character seek revenge on behalf of another one of yours, even if you feel it would make sense to do so, or to influence your other characters storylines in any way.
Information should never be passed along or shared between the characters as that would be META, this includes using another person's character to transfer knowledge from one of your characters to another.
You must be extra careful to keep their knowledge separate to avoid risk of META at all times.
